It was developed by scientists at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital when they discovered that cold could attack fat cells, and cause them to collapse and die. As soon as the fat cells are treated, they begin to be gradually eliminated through your body’s natural metabolic process, reducing the fat layers’ thickness. After removal, the surrounding skin is compressed and gives a slimmer appearance.
We use different terms in Coolsculpting to understand each patient’s treatment breakdown. Each patient is evaluated and quoted during a consultation to plan the best-personalized treatment according to their needs.
Applicator
Describes the piece/technology used to treat and cover the necessary areas. Each applicator is different in size, shape, and technology, used for other sites. For example, it is evaluated which applicator and how many sessions are necessary to cover the needed areas, depending on the patient’s body and size. Usually, for the abdomen, between 1 – 5 applicators can be used.
Ciclo (tratamiento)
The cycle describes the treatment time per applicator, per area. Depending on the applicator used, a cycle duration varies from 36 minutes to 1 hour. We have multiple machines, which allows us to start more than one cycle simultaneously. Only one process per applicator, per area, can be performed in the same visit, but you can perform up to 12 cycles in different regions per day. After three months, you can complete a second cycle in the previously treated areas.
Section
One section describes the patient visit when treating one or multiple areas for three months. Usually, only one treatment is necessary to notice the change. Various treatments can be done three months after each section.
Treatment plan
Your treatment plan comprises the number of sections required to achieve the result you are looking for. The number of sections/cycles / and applicators per area is documented.
Fat cells are gradually absorbed by the body, helping you lose measurements. After three weeks, a considerable improvement will be noticeable as you lose weight for the next 2 to 3 months.
Results are seen up to 3 months later (in what it takes to dispose of cells)
97% of patients notice a change in the first section. Only 3 percent need more than one treatment (2). They may require two treatments to see the result of one.
